Alexandria Safford of Ballston Lake Tabbed NECC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has selected Southern Vermont College freshman Alexandria Safford (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) as its Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the period ending April 8, 2018 as announced on Monday.

Safford helped Southern Vermont collect its first win of the year in the Mountaineers' league opener as she tallied nine goals and an assist at Newbury College last Monday. The rookie tied SVC's second-most goals mark in a single game as she found the back of the cage on 77.8 percent of her shots during the match. She also had a caused turnover and a ground ball in the 17-7 victory which saw the freshman personally outscore the Nighthawks.

Safford is the second Mountaineer to garner the award this season after classmate Mia Prouty (Bennington, Vt.) was chosen as the Rookie of the Week on March 19.
