Madison Main of Bennington Tabbed NECC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week

The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday its weekly award winners for the period ending November 26, 2017 with Southern Vermont College junior Madison Main (Bennington, VT) being named the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

The Mountaineer recorded two double-doubles as she averaged 18 points and 13 rebounds per game for the week. She also registered 2.3 steals per game for SVC on the defensive end through the three contests.

Main continued her stellar inaugural collegiate season with great performances in each of Southern Vermont's matchups. She notched a season-high 23 points and 13 rebounds on Tuesday against Fitchburg State University, and Main followed that with 19 points and 19 rebounds in the Mountaineers' first win of the year during a victory over Medgar Evers College in the Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament. She was named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance over the weekend.

Monday's honor is the second time Main is being recognized by the NECC as she was tabbed the Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week once in the fall.
