Madison Main of Bennington Tabbed NECC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Southern Vermont College junior Madison Main (Bennington, Vt.) has earned the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week award for the period ending October 15, 2017 as announced by the league on Monday.

The first-year runner finished in SVC's top three for the first time this year on Saturday as she tallied an adjusted time of 30:15 at Western New England University's Golden Bear Invitational this past Saturday (8:38/mile). She crossed the line of the mismarked course-which saw the participants go an extra 380 meters-with an overall time of 32:11.

Southern Vermont swept the NECC women's cross country awards for the third time this year as Main's Bennington College senior teammate Annika Kristiansen (Keene, N.H.) collected her second Runner of the Week laurel this season. Kristiansen finished first for the Mountaineers with an adjusted time of 25:15; that was 13 seconds faster than her previous time on a 6K course and moved her up to fifth on Southern Vermont's all-time 6K record list.
